From Accidental Artist to Creative Conservationist ... The Unexpected Journey Behind the Canvas

There are moments in life where you look back and realise the path was quietly being painted long before you ever picked up the brush.

If someone had told me years ago that I would one day be standing as a full-time artist, with my artwork featured on a New York billboard, I probably would have laughed. My journey into art was never a carefully designed career plan. In many ways, I truly became known as the “Accidental Artist”, a creative who unexpectedly found herself following the pull of paint, colour and storytelling after decades of exploring creativity through different forms.

Before the canvas became my language, I spent 15 years as a professional brand photographer and won various business awards...Photography taught me how to see. It taught me about light, composition, emotion and the power of a single moment captured forever. I had the privilege of photographing and working alongside some extraordinary people, including Richard Branson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Simon Sinek, Tim Ferriss and Aviva Drescher. Each person brought their own story, vision and energy, and those experiences shaped the way I understand people, brands and the importance of authentic storytelling.

My earlier career was deeply rooted in business, marketing and branding. I studied the craft of building meaningful brands and had the incredible opportunity to work within the world of luxury through LVMH. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for heritage, creativity, craftsmanship and the emotional connection between a brand and its audience. Little did I know those lessons would eventually become the foundation for my own creative journey, blending art, storytelling and purpose.

Creativity has always been part of my DNA. My Dad was a huge influence on me, a true creative mind who encouraged curiosity, imagination and seeing the world differently. Growing up surrounded by creativity and conversations about ideas shaped the way I approach everything today. My family has always reminded me that creativity isn’t just something we do... it is something we live.

My artistic journey took an unexpected turn when my paintings were discovered by a New York art gallery. What started as personal exploration suddenly became something much bigger. Seeing my artwork represented in New York and featured on a prominent Times Square billboard was an incredibly surreal moment, a reminder that sometimes the things we create quietly in our own world can travel much further than we ever imagined.

Today, I have stepped into a new chapter as an artist, author and creative conservationist. My mission is to use creativity as a conduit for connection and conservation. Through my partnership with Taronga Zoo, my artwork has become a way to raise awareness and support the protection of precious wildlife and our natural world. Every collector who welcomes one of my artworks into their home becomes part of that bigger story, helping art move beyond decoration and become a force for positive change.

I recently launched my fifth new book, How To Be An Art Snob ...Even If You’re Not One!, along with my Art Snob Style Finder™ quiz, designed to help people discover their own relationship with art, deepen their appreciation and feel more confident about collecting. I believe art should not feel intimidating or exclusive. Art is for everyone.

One of the greatest joys of this chapter has been becoming the student who became the teacher. After years of learning, experimenting and creating, I now feel called to help other artists find their voice, understand their value and navigate their own creative journeys.

Behind every achievement is the reason I continue to create...my family. My husband Stewart, our Moodle Charlie, and the people I love are at the heart of my why. We are happiest sharing simple moments like travelling, skiing, drinking great coffee, enjoying beautiful food and cooking at home. Those everyday experiences are where inspiration often begins.

When I paint, I am not just creating an artwork. I am capturing memories, emotions and the extraordinary beauty of the world around us. I hope that every painting carries a little piece of that wonder into someone else’s life ...and reminds us all to protect what is beautiful, sacred and precious on our planet.
