About - Zahrina Robertson
Somethings find you before you find them...
Creativity knocked on my door at a ripe old age of seven and never stopped, season after season, till this day ...in the way light moves through leaves, the way colour shifts with the seasons, the way nature seems to breathe effortlessly.
I never planned to become an artist. Instead, I loved the great outdoors, snorkelling, and creating, influenced by my parents and growing up on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
I just never stopped paying attention...to nature.
For fifteen years, I worked behind my camera lens as Australia's leading brand photographer and visual strategist, learning the language of light intimately, for myself and for some of the most recognisable names in personal development and entertainment, Simon Sinek, Tim Ferriss, Richard Branson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carla Zampatti, Aviva Drescher and many more...
That work taught me something no art school could... light doesn’t just illuminate a scene, it transforms it. It carries feeling. It holds memory.
That understanding lives in every painting I create. My signature work...Meditative Lightscapes to Ocean Lightscapes has been built from layers of light, texture and colour drawn from nature, from the coast, from life.
Each piece is an invitation to slow down, to feel something, to be.
An Unconventional Rise
My artistic story didn’t follow the usual path. I was discovered on my Instagram account @ZahrinaArtist by a New York Gallery, which ignited an international journey and introduced my work to collectors beyond Australia.
Since then, my art has continued to travel, most recently appearing on a Times Square billboard in New York and featured on national television, yet the mission has stayed grounded and clear. Visibility was never the goal. Meaning is.
My paintings are collected by motivational guru, Tony Robbins, Brooke Shields and many others, globally and Australia-wide.
Why Conservation Sits at the Centre
Nature has given me everything as an artist, its light, its colour, its quiet. Giving back to it isn’t a choice; it’s a responsibility. That belief led me to partner with Taronga Zoo, where I serve on the Board Committee, shaping creative direction and donor storytelling.
Founding Paint & Walk™ Experiences was born of my friends and me, as we immersed ourselves in an experience built on connection, creativity and conservation. Same with my art, when you bring one of my pieces into your home, you become part of that story too.
Collecting My Work
Originals are signed. Limited-edition prints are intentionally scarce ...hand-signed, numbered, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, with professional framing available.
Each collector becomes part of a small, considered circle, not a print run.
Beyond the Canvas
How to Be An Art Snob… Even If You’re Not One! my 5th book (2026) is a witty, candid look at the intimidation so many of us feel walking into a gallery... even, at times, me. Launched at Mosman Art Gallery in May 2026, it’s now selling globally, alongside my ongoing work as a speaker and the conservation-aligned VIP experiences I continue to build.

Art, I’ve learned, can be deeply personal and powerfully poignant, all at once.

Zahrina's Art Practice
ARTIST STATEMENT
Zahrina Robertson is an Australian artist, author and speaker whose work explores the transformative relationship between light, nature and human connection. Raised by the ocean, her lifelong fascination with shifting horizons, luminous skies and the quiet rhythm of coastal landscapes has become the foundation of her distinctive painting practice. She lives and works in Sydney as a full-time artist.
Working predominantly in oils, Robertson creates immersive lightscapes that evoke stillness, wonder and emotional resonance. Through expressive brushwork and layered translucent colour, her paintings capture the fleeting moments where sea, sky and light dissolve into one another. Balancing abstraction with atmosphere, each work invites viewers to pause, reflect and reconnect with the natural world.
Robertson is drawn to the tactile richness and luminosity of oil paint, embracing its depth, fluidity and ability to build subtle veils of colour and light. Her collections are inspired by the Australian coastline and a belief that art can cultivate both mindfulness and conservation. As the founder of Paint & Walk™ and author of five books, including How To Be An Art Snob... Even If You're Not One!, she champions creativity as a powerful force for well-being, connection, and the protection of what is precious on our planet.
